Help Mama MOE Crown The Ultimate Holiday Movie

I was one of the people begging others not to post anything to do with the holidays so early. Yet, here I am doing that very thing. But I swear, I have a REALLY good reason.

I was contacted by Staples Canada to participate in a holiday campaign and I was so excited to be able to do it for two reasons: first, I get to try out the Roku 3 with my family, second I get to give away two Rokus to my awesome readers!

I may have mentioned it before, but for over two years now, we have not had cable of any kind in our home. We got rid of the traditional form of watching television and decided to watch only things we could see on Netflix, online (i.e. live streaming for news and sports) or we would just pop in a DVD (and on very rare occasions, rent online). We couldn’t be happier with that decision. We love sitting down for a movie night and choosing from the long list of possibilities on Netflix.

If we watch a movie for family movie night, we look through the kids section of TV shows and movies. The last movie we all enjoyed, parents and kids included, was Mr. Popper’s Penguins. It’s funny and heartwarming. Right now the kids are into Curious George, My Little Pony and RescueBots.

As for me, I am binge watching Once Upon A Time, and I go back and watch Dr. Who episodes I love. My husband and I watch The Good Wife, we just finished watching 24, and we attempt to stay up and watch a full movie from the long list of choices often! So as you can see, I have zero regrets on cutting cable from our lives, as we have plenty of great things to watch.

Add to that the Roku 3 and we are set! I got to test drive the Roku 3 this past week and I was amazed to find out how many choices there were of free channels filled with shows, movies and music. Of course there is the choice to subscribe to various channels, but for now, we’re set with Netflix (although I feel like my husband may sign up for NHL’s channel this hockey season).

Help Me Crown the Ultimate Holiday Movie

The #StreamInto2015 campaign is all about bringing family together during the holiday season. Choosing one movie to crown is no easy task, since there are so many to choose from. Should it be a classic movie or a brand new film that has won the hearts of so many? I need your suggestions! My family and I will embark in major holiday movie watching and I want to be sure we are watching some great ones! What is your favourite movie? Leave me yours in the comment below and I will take all family-friendly suggestions. I’ll be announcing the ultimate holiday movie at the end of the month.

Giveaway

To enter the giveaway simply fill out the Rafflecopter form (and be sure to include your favourite movie, especially in your tweets – any comments or tweets without a movie suggestion will be void). Two winners will be chosen on November 28th (at 11:59pm) and will each receive a Roku 3 in time for the holidays! This giveaway is open to Canadians only. Good luck to everyone!

“One Magic Christmas” plot moves me, always make me cry…touches my spirit. Mary Steenburgen @Ginny Grainger/Elisabeth Hamois – “Abby” and stellar acting by Harry Dean Stanton “Gideon” – makes this Christmas story compelling/gripping and a must SEE.
