The Easter Hat

This Easter Hat makes for an ultra fun DIY for you and your little one.

Here’s a quick little craft to do with kids to get them excited for Easter Sunday!

At my little one’s preschool they had a parade today and it was adorable! And while Easter bonnets are perfect for little girls, I wanted something less flowery for my son – so we came up with an “Easter Hat!”

What Supplies Do I Need to Make an Easter Hat?

What’s great about this project is that you don’t need any intricate art supplies! All you’ll need are the following:

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Stapler
  • Markers
  • Foam-shaped eggs (usually found at craft or dollar stores)

Is This Easter Craft Kid-Friendly?

Absolutely! Your little one will love colouring and customizing the foam eggs. You can easily decorate them by colouring them in with markers.

A quick tip to be sure little ones do not get a staple boo boo is to reverse the side you staple on (sharp part facing out).

How To Make an Easter Hat

It’s really not too hard to make an Easter Hat. Here’s what we came up with:

Supplies

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Stapler
  • Markers
  • Foam-shaped eggs (usually found at craft or dollar stores)

Instructions

  • Begin by cutting a strip of construction paper, about 2 inches wide and long enough so that it can go around your child’s head with some overlap.
  • Parents: measure the construction paper around your little one’s head, remove and staple secure.
  • Cut little “grass” blades around the top of the paper hat.
  • Ask your child to customize his/her Easter egg foams. Once complete, parents/adults can staple the eggs together as well as to the rim of the hat.
My son was proud of his decorated eggs. We loved how it came out!

So tell me, what crafts are you doing this Easter?
