Make a Purse of Hope

During the process of cleaning out my clothes, shoes and bags, I came across a great initiative in my area, called Purse of Hope. There are a handful of boutiques and salons collecting gently used purses from the community to donate to our local women’s shelter. The idea is to fill your purse with items a woman would need and want in her difficult situation. Hardship can happen in a heartbeat and I thank God every day for all my blessings. The only thing to do is to give back as often as I can, in any way I can. No matter where you are, there is a shelter nearby. And now that the weather is getting colder, many people need help to stay warm, inside and out. The weeks leading up to the holidays can be very difficult and extremely sad for people who are alone. This is just one way of lending a hand to a woman who could use it. Below are a list of approved items that can be added in your purse to donate. My suggestion is to contact your local shelter first to make sure what is approved for them and what is desperately needed at this time.

My wish is that we can show our community, our neighbours, that we are here for them.

In my area, donations can be made until November 30th. Also, if you don’t have a purse to fill, the drop-offs also take the items alone and they will do the rest. I’m so glad a friend shared this with me and I hope sharing this here will help you take the lead to make a difference in your area. Why not have a purse party? It’s a great reason to get your friends together.
