The Harlem Globetrotters Are Coming Back to Montreal! {Giveaway}

A few years ago, when the world famous Harlem Globetrotters came to town, I was invited to interview THE Buckets Blakes. What a thrill that was! I felt like a kid again, meeting this amazingly talented sportsman and seeing him light up a gymnasium of children as he showed them some moves.

Here is a video of that day (just listen to their reactions!!):

Have you ever gone to see a Harlem Globetrotters game? I have many times, lucky me! My father took my sister and I when we were kids and since then, I was hooked! As an elementary student, I even joined my school basketball team and continued into high school. I love basketball and watching the Harlem Globetrotters is a real experience. Not only do they play with mad skills, but they are entertaining and get the whole crowd into their infectious positivity! My boys cannot wait to go and see hem when they come back to town. And this time, the have a game in Montreal and Laval – two shows!!

Did you know the Harlem Globetrotters have their own YouTube channel?  It’s a great channel to show your kids. They go all over he world and Buckets is trying new things too. Just this month he tried out skiing for the first time, right beside young children. I loved that he is showing people it’s great to try new things at any age.

I encourage you to go and read my post on the Harlem Globetrotters and the ABC’s of bullying prevention outreach program they created. In that post, you will also see the amazing message Buckets has for parents.

Super interview! My son watched it and said that he liked all the sports he’s doing currently! What struck me in this video was Buckets sincerity and practical advice to provide encouragement, be positive and show our children what it means to take on responsibility.

I love that he’s promoting sports to parents! Not only does sports keep children active & healthy, but it keeps them out of trouble!

Wow, 9 siblings! Amazing that his parents were able to get all of them involved in sports and give them so much encouragement. I loved what he said sports, that it’s so much more than just physical activity, that also teach kids about the importance of practice, hard work, and time management – all great life skills! He seems like a great role model.

I found it great the he emphasized that communication is key and if you kid doesn’t like a particular sport, that there are many more out there to try. Don’t give up; hard work is important and the values taught by sports are priceless.
