Packing Light for a Ski Vacation

I would never have believed it if you had told me I could pack like we did for our last vacation. Never! I was never a great packer. I have always over packed. And truth be told, I would take the last hours before a trip, second guessing what to bring and what I would wear, until finally my mama would say “just bring it all, and you can decide there.”

Granted, I was not the traveler I am today. My husband and I love traveling with our boys and we do it every chance we get! So, I suppose travelling with less comes with more experience. However, it’s only recently that I started truly pairing down to a few items.

I mean, who are we kidding? I don’t need that much when travelling! It took me a while to get there, but with the help of great brands like Encircled, learning how to take more pride in my items thanks to Marie Kondo, and re-analyzing what I have versus what I need, I‘m trying hard to use less. And the same goes for my family.

In the end, I am not going to pack for Instagram, I’m going to pack for an amazing vacation with my family! Because traveling light is way better than dealing with loads of luggage for the sake of a perfect picture. Also, if packing less means I can avoid some laundry on the return, I’m all for that too.

So, here is what happened when we knew we were travelling for over a week to BC, on a ski vacation:

When it comes down to it, we did completely fine with what we brought. And I can’t believe it, but I actually didn’t wear everything I packed for myself! This has made me even more determined to pack less on our next trip to Europe this summer. The plan is to pack for Spain with only a couple of carry-ons and backpacks…do you think we can do it? Would you be able to?
