If you love the smell of lavender, this will make you happy – the Quebec company, Bleu Lavande, known for their cosmetic creams and essentials oil, has now created a line of cleaning products with their lavender, called Loft. Bleu Lavande said is was an easy decision to add Loft to their collections, seeing as lavender has natural purifying properties.
The company has expanded a great deal over the last year, with on-location festivals, a restaurant, snack kiosk, tours, and a beautiful boutique. I went to discover the fields first hand, on one of the first weeks it was open for the season. Have a look:
If you are planning a trip to the Eastern Townships, passing by Bleu Lavande is worth it. Be sure to check their events calendar to see what could be interesting for you and your family. When you’re there, be adventurous and try things. I had a lavender lemonade and it was actually really refreshing! There were other snacks that included lavender such as ice cream and macaroons.
I took the time to take the tour for my own curiosity and I really enjoyed it. If you are going for the tour, be sure to mention what language you prefer. My tour was in French but my guide answered questions for me when I had them.
My Thoughts on Loft
I am a person who likes the smell of lavender to a certain point. There are some lavender products I have been gifted or tried in some form or another (candles, creams, etc.) and they were nasty. Sometimes, the smell of lavender can be too strong and very unappealing.
I’m happy to say that everything I tested and tried over time from the Loft collection was very pleasant! (And on a side note, I also purchased some of their hand creams and love them too.)
I gave it a good length of time in and around the house because I wanted to see how long the smell would last and if my family liked it or not. I was pleased with the level of the lavender scent as a cleaning product line, because it wasn’t overpowering and it did not leave a lingering, perfume smell.
I think my favourites of the line would have to be the hand/dish soap and the all-purpose spray. I like using the soap mostly for my hands at the kitchen, but I did use it for dishes and it did not leave a smell or taste on them. The spray is perfect after a meal to clean up the counters. I have a granite kitchen counter and it left no residue and a nice smell.
Details
When I asked about the ingredients of the products, I was first told that there was nothing harmful in them, that they were biodegradable, and exempt of chloride and phosphate. That wasn’t really enough for me, so I got the answer for me and for you. Here they are: Aqua (Water/Eau), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, Alcohol Denat, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Rosemarinus Offinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Phenoxyethanol
I have been really happy overall with these products and recommend them to anyone looking for a nice scent, and a natural cleaner to add to their home.
- Lavender Surface Cleaner 500ml – $5.99 – good for fingerprints soap residues on chrome, tiles, sinks and bathtubs, porcelain, enamel and steel.
- Lavender Multi-purpose Cleaner 500ml – $6,99 – I used this cleaner on my walls, counter, and even my fridge.
- Lavender and Rosemary hand and dish soap 500ml – $9,99 – helps remove garlic, onion smells and germs on dishes and hands all thanks to the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of rosemary and lavender.
There are two new additions to the Loft collection; fabric softener and laundry detergent. I have yet to try them, so I cannot give you my review on them. Right now, the Loft collection is available in Metro grocery stores and online.
