Parasailing at Disney’s Castaway Cay

As we got off the Disney Wonder, my excitement grew about the possibility of parasailing during the day. It was something I was looking forward to the moment I knew we were heading to Castaway Cay with the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I knew of others that had tried it and loved it, and that night before, blogger friend, Janice Croze of 5 Minutes for Mom confirmed it. Her exact words were “Do it! Do it! Do it!”.

Because YOLO, right? I mean, what were the chances I would have another opportunity like this again? And it’s important to seize opportunities when they come your way. And how much fun would it be to fly above Castaway Cay?! This would be the first of many moments to celebrate my 40th birthday. I was pumped. I wanted my whole family to do it, but the twins were still too young and my husband stayed back with them (an truthfully, it was not a chore for him, as he is scared of heights).

But my oldest was considering it and I was thrilled! We headed straight for the excursion booth to find out the parasailing schedule for the day. We got the price and safety details.

“When can we go?” I asked.

“Now or at 3pm” was the answer of the coordinator. All I could think of was, if we wait until 3, my oldest might fret about it and back out, so I answered with “Ok, let’s do it NOW!”.

Right away, my son went into panic mode. But it was also filled with excitement and I knew if I helped him stay positive, we would have a blast. So, we signed up, paid, and gave our things to Papa MOE and the twins. Then we headed to the area where we were to wait for the small boat that would take us out.

We got the rundown of the steps to take from the lady that signed us up, and then two gentlemen took us out on the boat with two other women, who incidentally didn’t speak a word of English…

The two women went first, so we got the chance to see the steps we had to take in action. All was simple enough and it looked incredible. My son still had some worry but was clearly excited as well.

Now it was our turn. You be the judge on how much we enjoyed our experience:

My son said later, it was the best feeling he ever had. I am so glad I pushed both of ourselves out of our comfort zones. Sometimes, you just have to act on a good feeling, even if 80% of you is telling you not to. That 20% is almost always right. That gut feeling that takes you to another level with passion and force and happiness. That is was life is for!

I was so proud of my son, and I was so happy to celebrate this experience with him. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Who knows, maybe I’ll get the chance again. And maybe next time, the twins will be old enough.

How are you stepping out of your comfort zone today?

Disclosure: I was invited with my family to the exclusive Disney Social Media Moms Conference. As such, I was provided with various discounts and products. I was not requested to write this post. All opinions are honest and my own.

Love this! Great video! Looks like you had so much fun! I LOVE parasailing! I’ve only had the chance to do it once but that was also in Florida. What an amazing experience. I love the view of the ship from up high! Very cool! Way to go Mama!
