Do Yourself A Favour And…

Do you ever feel that time is flying by?

I have been feeling that way ever since I began coordinating my networking/charity event that took place last Friday (click here for more info).

As much as I am thrilled the event went well and we all had a great time, I was really tired afterwards and have been all week. There was a time when going out late (much later than my event) was really no big deal. I could sleep in a bit and get right back into the groove and function just fine. Now, things are different. Aside from the fact that I am older (and wiser?) and I have many more responsibilities, my body has clued in to the fact that I need sleep! Having three children under five will do that to you. And since my little ones have never been great sleepers, eventually, with so much on my plate, something has to give. Right now, I am still recovering from the big day, and will be for a while.

I am thrilled to be able to donate my time and energy to raise money for such a worthy cause, but I have to be honest and say that, right now, I am very happy I do it only one time a year!

So in light of feeling a little overwhelmed and a lot tired, here are a few tips I use when I need an extra minute here and there.

Do yourself a favour and:

  • Set the table for breakfast before you go to bed. I know you might think it’s strange, and I haven’t done it for too long, but trust me. It’s a great feeling knowing the table is set for you when you come down all groggy in the morning with little kids rearing to go and eat fast!
  • Get a coffee maker with a built-in timer. Coffee already brewed in the morning? Alleluia! It’s like getting room service when you wake up to the smell of your cup ‘a Joe.
  • While you’re at it, make things easier by placing your spoon, sugar and mug right at the coffee maker.
  • Pack your children’s lunches the night before. Just another thing to not have to do in the morning.
  • Load your car with cereal bars. The last thing you need to start your day is a rush out the door and no breakfast. Leave your house with a fruit and water, plus munch on a cereal bar and you will feel that much better.
  • Take your vitamins – no excuse! If you want to give yourself a fighting chance, take your vitamins to help build your immunity so you can fight off colds when you are running a little low.

Do you have any great tips for helping your day start on the right foot? I’d love to hear them in the comments below. Until then, I will be taking it easy a bit. And really, I think we all could use a bit of taking it easy. I do have some very exciting projects coming up so stay tuned!

Lol I love your tips and the best one is the coffee maker. Mine is programmable but I never set it. Tonight I am going to so I get pampered tomorrow morning when I wake up. It will be like room service. Well, except that it’s Saturday morning with 4 kids. 😉

LOL – yes room service with four kids is different, but coffee will be made! 🙂
Ask me if I did any of those things the night I posted this? LOL!!

Your tips rock!!! I find doing things the night before much easier to get going. Like setting out clothes, ironing, making lunches etc. Makes the morning run smoother!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Thanks for passing by! Yes, they seem silly even, but they do help! 🙂

Love these tips. I have been lazy with the kids lunches and t has meant rushed morning. No more. I am getting them to pack it the night before. Or most of it anyway.
