Christmas is going to be filled with family game time thanks to Hasbro this season. I was contacted by them to check out some of their holiday suggestions and these were my top choices. I think all three are perfect additions to your family:
Perfection Game – the original
Hasbro has come out with a slew of varieties to this classic game. They have Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins and even Iron Man 2 versions. And while I do think the newer versions are fun for children depending on what characters/shows they love, I am still a fan of the classic version. Sam, the patient, has had a few updates since his release in the 60s, to make him hip with the times. This gift is under the tree and I can’t wait to see their reaction.
For ages 4 and up
Price $19.99 (prices vary from store to store)
Monopoly Junior
Growing up, I was a big Monopoly fan. As a family, we would sometimes have a game going for the whole weekend. We’d leave it set up on the living room table and get back to it in between meals and other activities. Well, this is obviously not happening yet with our little ones, so I am over the moon excited to introduce them to Monopoly Junior. It’s the perfect level for them now and it will help them practice math and reading all while having a fun time with the whole family. The faster and simpler version has properties to buy like the ice cream shop, the zoo and the bowling alley. The game only uses single dollar bills, perfect for little ones starting out. This is also under our tree and I am looking forward to this game with them as much as they will.
For ages 5 and up
Price $19.93 (prices vary from store to store)
Simon Swipe
I have to be honest with you, there have been other versions of Simon since its original in the late 70s. There was even an app I downloaded. This new version is the coolest and most fun version since then. The swipe addition is an added skill that we all clearly use on a daily basis with all our tech. What’s fun is having to combine the taps with the swipes and get the right order. We couldn’t wait until Christmas on this gift. There are four different ways to play; classic (no swiping), level, party, and extreme. We love playing the party version and the kids and I wiggle and dance to the song in between players. I even caught my husband playing this extreme game alone, it’s that fun. I’m a visual person, so I watched the Hasbro video instructions to see the details.
For ages 8 and up (my kids are younger and love it)
Price: $22.93 (prices vary from store to store)

My favourite thing about family game night is turning off the tv and having fun with my family.
I love family game nights because we are actually doing something together and enjoying each other company. It also gives us a chance to teach our kids about winning and losing and both are okay.
