Natural Hair Care Line I’m Loving

I have been waiting to get a haircut until the weather changes because every summer, my hair gets somewhat damaged from the sun, the chlorine in the pool and anything else summer brings. But I must admit, this summer my hair has kept its shine and softness, thanks to a product I used all season.

I am thrilled to announce that I am starting a collaboration with Trade Secrets and to begin, they sent me off on holiday with R.A.W. ‘s Matrix Biolage shampoo, conditioner and clay mask. I knew I would be away a solid month in the summer sun, so it was a perfect time to test out the products.

* Please note: I am by no means a top beauty blogger or vlogger and you know what? I think that is exactly why this collaboration is going to be perfect for you, mamas. Because, please. Because, seriously. Mamas need good products that work well, are healthy and make you feel great, without much time involved. Enter Mama MOE beauty reviews. Watch out, Trade Secrets, this ain’t your millennial review. *wink*

Back to the products.

The line is 95% natural-origin, so there are no parabens, no silicones, so sulfates, and no artificial colorants. There are three types of products, depending on your hair type; Hydrate, if you need moisture, Uplift, if you need volume and Recover, for stressed out hair (poor hair, don’t be stressed, lol.).

I went with Nourish, knowing my hair gets dry in the summer. I am sensitive to strong smells in beauty products so I was happy when I smelled Nourish shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo has honey which immediately reminded me of the 80’s shampoo I used to use, in a good way. Something tells me it wasn’t as high quality as Nourish though. It also contains quinoa husk from Bolivia that would otherwise be thrown away (love that).

The conditioner has coconut oil and kaolin clay but I have to say the coconut smell is not overpowering. I like the combination of the smells in both products, and not much smell remains as you wash your hair.

The shampoo does not lather as much as other products, but you can definitely feel it washing well (if that makes sense). The conditioner is more thick than others I have tried and your hair really gets silky smooth.

Now, here’s the important part. In the summer, I do not style my hair. Why? You know why. What mama has time to style hair in the summer?! I have thick and wavy hair, and if I’m getting back into water the next day, I’m not going to spend an hour styling my hair. No. Way. So for me, the big test is what will my hair look and feel like without being styled. The verdict? Soft and light, without much frizz. I really enjoyed that over the summer. At the end of August, I decided to style my hair to see how it looked and felt with these products, and nothing else. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re-hydrate Clay Mask

My hair must have become much healthier just with the shampoo and conditioner because I only used the clay mask once over the summer and it was as if I had gone to the hair spa. Key point mamas, the clay mask only needs to stay in her hair for five minutes! In next to no time, my hair was ridiculously soft and silky. The clay mask is a 400 ml jar so it was last a long time. I even left some of the clay mask for my sister-in-law before heading back home from vacation.

I really like this line! My hair feels like I went to the salon after every wash. The shampoo and conditioner are $25, while the clay mask is $40. It may be more than a line you find at the pharmacy, but I can tell you it’s worth the investment. I still have a lot left in my bottles and my clay mask is going to last a very long time.
