It’s #HolidayMode Time! {plus a giveaway!}

Right now, we are smack in the middle of the holiday season. You may be at work again, in between Christmas and New Year, but there are still a couple of days coming to you with celebrations.

We just had a lovely Christmas with family and are taking this week to relax with our children who are off school until the fourth of January.

That said, it is so important to have quality time together when we have the chance. When school is in session, there is homework times three, afterschool activities, volunteering, and before you know it, our days are full and not much time is spent just being together.

On the fourth week of Advent at our church, the priest spoke about presence versus presents. There is a big difference, and children feel it. And you know what? So do parents. We all need that quality time with those we love. And having time off is also great for time with my husband, away from the computers and devices.

And let’s be honest: there are some people (a lot of people) who don’t have anyone to be with during the holidays. If you have family and friends, it is a very profound gift in its own right.

Would you be surprised to know that TELUS is actually promoting time away from tech for the holiday season? It’s true. They want me to help Canada get into Holiday Mode by spreading the word on social media. The more Canadians in Holiday Mode, the merrier! They sent me a package before the holidays began with some great goodies for me and my family, along with this:

Holiday Mode sweater

Sweaters for your tech?! How cute is THAT?!

Commercials for sales and shopping are absolutely everywhere. It’s so refreshing to know a company is trying to make a social difference during this time. We as a society need to shift our way of thinking. Tech can be so addictive. And even though I love it, and use technology for writing and reading, just like a magazine or book, there is a time and place. We made a conscious effort to give gifts to our children that inspired creativity and thinking. And some of those gifts were meant to be shared as a family. Board games, puzzles, crafts…I mean, adults are buying colouring books! It’s clear we need some quiet time to chill.

The only real reason I’m carrying my phone around these days is to speak to family from far and take pictures of my kids. TELUS believes there is no greater connection than a human connection. And trust me when I say they really show it in so many ways. As a #TeamTELUS advocate, I couldn’t be more proud to be associated with a company going the extra mile to make a difference.

OK, before this post gets too long, I just have one more thing…giveaway!

Yes, that’s right! I’ve been offered a JBL CLIP+ Bluetooth Speaker to give away from TELUS!!

I have one and we use it often. The sound quality is amazing and it’s so small you can bring it everywhere. It can aslo hook unto your backpack or stroller (Mamas! Music while you stroll baby!)

To enter fill in the Rafflecopter form below and be sure to comment with your favourite way to get into Holiday Mode using the tools and inspiration over at telus.com/expectmore.

Simple as that!

This giveaway is open to Canadian residents only. Winner will be chosen randomly and will need to answer a skill testing question to receive giveaway. Deadline to enter is January 10th at 11:59pm.

Good luck to all!

I hope you all enjoy your time off for celebrations, quality time, giving back in some way and relaxing in Holiday Mode.
