The Mama With The Magic Purse

Are the the go-to mom when some child in the park needs a napkin or a Band-Aid?
Or are you the mom who is desperately asking someone else for help?

My newest purse, a Miche bag!

Hey! We’ve all been there. You had every intention of putting those wipes in your purse from the last time you went out without them and then suddenly, you are faced with the same problem again. And although there is always a solution (asking a friend or fellow mama, or being very MacGyver and using unusual items to solve the problem) wouldn’t it be nice to have your purse ready for all situations as they come without getting frantic?

Well, here is the list. The ultimate list to help you get organized before you leave the house with your kids, and be ready for anything that is thrown your way.

Keep in mind, this is a list for your purse, not your diaper bag. Ideally, it’s for the mama who has toddlers and is going out for a quick errand, visit or walk to the park. Once your purse is equipped you will never have to fret again, just replenish what is used, and you will be set!

The best helper in a purse is some sort of organizer. Whether it is one of those new purse in a purse bags with dividers, or a few clear small cosmetic bags, find something that will help you find your things easily. I have used both and I find the small bags to be more helpful. Each bag has a different group of necessities inside. And having them clear will help you find them that much faster.

  • mini bag #1: Mama’s cosmetics. Just the basics like concealer, lipgloss or lipstick, blush and mascara. You never know when you will want to spruce yourself up a bit.
  • mini bag #2: A small first aid kit. You can actually buy this ready made at the pharmacy and they are a perfect size for your purse. If you want to make you own, put together some Band-Aids, Polysporin (there are sprays now that are perfect for scrapes at the park, but they do have the sting effect, so if your kids are little, get the cream for kids), lip balm, eye drops for kids, a mini Swiss army knife (you will be surprised how handy this is!), small container of kids’ Advil.
  • a small case of wipes (monumental necessity!), and all natural antibacterial spray
  • a small bottle of water (for drinking or for cleaning any cuts)
  • wallet, with at least $20 cash, a debit or credit card, and all your children’s Medicare cards
  • your children’s medical books and i.d.s with recent pictures
  • mama cards or business cards with your contact information
  • a working pen
  • a cereal bar for hunger emergencies (for you or the kids)
  • a mini accordion file for coupons, bills, gift cards, and any other roaming papers
  • your fully charged cell phone, with your home phone number and address saved in it (invest in a phone charger for your car!)

It sounds like a lot, and maybe it is way more than you are used to, but it will take your little trips out of the house to a new level of comfort. And now when you’re at the park, you can be the one that’s ready to help out anyone.

So tell me, is there something you can’t leave the house without? Is there anything else you would add to this list? Let me know in the comment below, I’d love to hear from you!

Enjoy your no-stress, freedom-filled travels!

Thanks Tanya! I can’t tell you how many times, I’ve used that Swiss army knife! One of the best tools for a mama 😉 when we are at a restaurant and they give the kids straws, I use the scissors to cut the straws shorter for them!! 🙂
