If you have been following my Instagram feed, you know that I had the privilege to go to Europe again this year to visit family and friends (#TravellingMOE). It was a scrumptious holiday for us as a family, filled with Italian and Swiss cuisine. And every single day (give or take a day) we all had gelato.
Gelato is Italy’s little piece frozen treasure, in the most amazing flavours. My all-time favourite is Nutella. And if I can’t find that, it is sometimes just simply “nocciola” with means hazelnut, and tastes pretty much the same.
When we got back, we needed that fix of a cold and decadent summer dessert. Luckily, I knew just where to get it.
I have been chosen to be a Menchie’s Canada Ambassador. What that means is I get to try out Menchie’s frozen yogurt all summer long with my family (yes please!).
What is Menchie’s?
The franchise of frozen yogurt stores began in 2008 by husband and wife team, Danna and Adam Caldwell in Los Angeles, California. The signature fun and friendly décor and delicious varieties of frozen yogurts and toppings has led to over 116 locations across Canada and over 300 around the world.
The frozen yogurt is made with fresh milk from Canadian dairy. There are also gluten-free, vegan and no high fructose corn syrup options, allowing everyone to taste the goodness (their entire line of frozen yogurt is also certified Kosher).
When I took the boys, we let them have at it. I mean, let’s not kid ourselves, this is a decadent and delicious dessert! I figured, it was a major treat, and led way to truly let them experience Menchie’s the way they wanted. You can’t be a true taste tester if you are limited to plain vanilla and only fruit.
So these is their creations:
And here, mamas, is my delicious treat with, that’s right, NUTELLA!
One of the twins tried the new Oreo Cookie frozen yogurt and he loved it.
Tips and tricks to best enjoy Menchie’s with your family:
- Have a good look at all the flavours before you begin your creation. The first flavour might look good to your child, but they might see one down the line they would like even more.
- Read the labels above for health or allergy concerns. All frozen yogurt flavours are clearly labeled above for your convenience.
- Opt for the smaller cup for the kids (which is actually huge). This way they can add toppings as well.
- The purchases are measured by weight. Keep this in mind when loading on the toppings with the kids. Because the cups are big, it is easy to fill them up and have a surprise at the cash. I suggest filling halfway which is actually already a big amount for kids (about the same as an ice cream cone) and if they want more and you feel generous, they can always get more after.
