Roma (part 3) After a 4-hour tour of the Collose Roma (part 3) After a 4-hour tour of the Colloseum and ancient ruins (Roman forum), we went back to our airbnb and recovered. There is no shade, and the heat in these areas is trecherous. Was it worth it? Yes. We had a great tour guide and it's the only way to beat the lines AND learn something. The colloseum is unbelievable. To think that 80,000 people came through the arches at one time. The architecture, the innovations and the layers of history... We learned so much during our tour. I'm adding some interesting facts in my blog post. After a late dinner, we went to see the Spanish steps. Going back out later is the best way to enjoy a historical site without melting. And of course, a perfect time for gelato. 😉
Dressing up and goofing off on our annual date nig Dressing up and goofing off on our annual date night is good for our souls. This time we tagged it at the end of our trip so we could chat about what we did, and all the things we enjoyed (and the challenges we had, because guys, we are normal and our trips are not perfect by any means) Our biggest joy on these travels is to spend time with our boys and to show them the world. Our other biggest joy is spending time with our extended family. Our joys were magnified and it has been beautiful.
Roma (part 2) La Fontana di Trevi The truth 🔍 Roma (part 2) La Fontana di Trevi The truth 🔍 There are only two good ways to see the Trevi Fountain now: early in the morning before most tourists wake up, or late in the evening when the sun isn't beating down on you. In the morning, we were there at 7:45am. As luck would have it, the police were ushering everyone out because the city was cleaning the fountain and removing coins, so the fountain was not running. When I asked if it was at the same time every day, he said "no, some days yes, some days no" 🤌🏻 Italy, it runs on its own schedule! We got to see the details from steps away, without waiting in a line like an amusement park ride. In the evening, we came by after dinner (10pm) so we could see the fountain lit up at night - also spectacular! Less crowds, no line up, chaos but everyone moves and you can get up close and throw your coin in. Tell me, do you know why and how you toss a coin in the Trevi Foutain?
When travelling in Europe, I highly suggest taking When travelling in Europe, I highly suggest taking the opportunity of getting a haircut and blowdry. Nancy @siriennemargot_parrucchieri had magical hands ✨️ She gave me two treatments for my hair and scalp. It was needed, the sun and water did a number on my hair. Then a beautiful cut and tedious (for her) blowdry. I felt renewed! Grazie, Nancy! È stata un'esperienza rilassante e fantastica! A la prossima! 😘
