Valentine’s Day Date At Home

Do you remember the first movie you saw with the love of your life?

I do. (No pun intended.)

We were basically getting set up by our two friends and we all got together for an afternoon movie downtown after college classes.

We went to see Shakespeare in Love! If that wasn’t a good push in the love direction by our two little cupids, I don’t know what could have been!

I thought I would mention this movie to all of you as a perfect Valentine’s Day movie to watch.

As most of my mama readers can attest, Valentine’s Day night will be spent at home. I plan on making a lovely dinner and dessert for us all. The day will be filled with fun Valentine’s Day activities for the children, but then after the kiddies go to sleep (one can hope), I plan on creating a real date night in.

Just because you are at home doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time! In fact, let’s be honest, sometimes it’s even better. Aside from cutting the cost dramatically (fancy restaurant for two, babysitter, movie tickets, snacks), staying at home is much nicer when you have a young family. You can get comfortable in your pjs! You can make your own popcorn and snacks! You can snuggle up closer than in those big theatre chairs! Make the most of it and plan a bit ahead and it will be very fun and romantic.

If you haven’t seen it, Shakespeare In Love is just so fun and romantic. Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes were wonderful together. And if you didn’t know this, Shakespeare In Love won seven Oscars the year it came out in 1998. Gwyneth Paltrow won best actress and the movie won best movie of the year.

So now, 14 years later, on February 14th, I plan on renting our first movie together and letting those sparks fly all over again.

What romantic movie brings back fond memories for you? Leave a comment below and share the love!

A movie we saw early on in our courtship is “When Harry Met Sally”. Who can beat Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal! It still remains one of my favorite movies ever!
