The Great Canadian Blog Bash is BACK!

Friends, I cannot tell you how excited I am to participate in this great event again this year! I was so excited last year to post about The SugarShacks of Quebec since it is such a great Canadian heritage piece.

This year, I did better…much better.

I have been sitting on this amazing giveaway for a little while now so I could announce it for TGCBB because it is quintessential Canadian! I could not be more proud of it and to be honest, this is the most amazing experience to have come out of blogging since I began.

I am thrilled to offer an amazing giveaway this year for The Great Canadian Blog Bash; one that I am sure you will all want! And even though it is Montreal based prize, I think some of you would travel here to win it! For those of you who hate suspense, scroll down to see what I am raving about.

For those who want the story (I hope all of you!), read on.

A while ago I was in contact with some amazing Canadian companies for my local networking/charity event. I met some incredible people and fantastic businesses; it was truly great to get to know more local talent. I was really hoping one company would come through as a grand prize to my event. Sadly it didn’t work out in time. However, we kept in touch and as luck would have it, the company invited me to come and see a show for a review. Are you ready to know what amazing company I’m writing about? Here’s a clue:

Yes! The Cirque du Soleil! As a proud Canadian, I couldn’t ask for a better sponsor for The Great Canadian Blog Bash!

Growing up in Montreal, I saw Cirque du Soleil develop from a local talent to an international phenomenon. The latest creation, Amaluna, is the 32nd production since 1984. And this year, Cirque du Soleil will have 22 shows being performed simultaneously around the world!

Cirque du Soleil, for those of you who do not know, literally translated, means ‘circus of the sun’. A fitting name since the roots of the Cirque du Soleil started outside with 20 street performers. Now, over 100 million spectators have seen Cirque du Soleil performances in more than 300 cities on six continents!

The year 1984 marked the 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier’s arrival in Canada. Cirque du Soleil was created for this celebration, and the first performance was done in the town of Gaspe. The first big top seated 800 people. Now the big tops hold 2,500 spectators!
The international headquarters are in my hometown of Montreal and, along with office spaces, is the place where performers come to train for weeks to months before starting a show (called ‘creation’). As well, all the props and costumes for all the shows are created in Montreal.

It’s hard to put into words what a Cirque du Soleil performance is like. On the one hand, it is a circus show without animals. On the other hand it is play with original music and unique characters, incredible costumes and incredible makeup. Cirque du Soleil paved the way for modern circus performances to hit the mainstream. The shows are different and exciting and transport you to a new place every time.

Some of the songs that have come from Cirque du Soleil have been big successes as well. The songs are a combination of languages, which is just wonderful to hear! As a Montrealer, it’s a part of my life to hear more than one language throughout the day. Cirque du Soleil took that culture and made it into real songs that people love. In fact, the song Alegria, was played at my wedding! So you can see how close I feel to Cirque du Soleil!
So without further ado, here is my big announcement for TGCBB. I have the privilege of hosting a giveaway for one person to win two tickets to the Amaluna show in Montreal! The performance runs until July 15thand then moves on to Quebec City.

In order to do it justice, I have posted the full review here with details of the show and amazing photographs. Be sure to check it out and learn more about Lara Jacobs, one of the amazing performers in Amaluna. She is a mama that has worked in the circus since she was young. Find out how she has made her family life and her career work together. She is a real inspiration! You’ll have to read the review to find out how I met Lara, and you might be very surprised!

To enter the giveaway, fill out the rafflecopter forms below, it’s that easy! Good luck to all and happy blog hoping this week during TGCBB. I hope to ‘meet’ a lot of you this week!
