Mama MOE, aka Official #TeamTELUS Advocate

So the news is out and I am so thrilled to announce that I am one of 15 chosen bloggers across Canada to participate as a #TeamTELUS Advocate! I’ve been sitting on this news for a while because there was a lot of preparing to do for this very first year of the advocacy program.

If you have read AskMamaMOE.com in the past, you know that I have been working with TELUS for a few years now, and love their company for so many reasons. And if I’m being honest, my main reason for loving them so much is the magnitude of the charitable work. In fact, as a #TeamTELUS Advocate, one of my major goals, that I personally chose, is to raise more awareness to all the social good that TELUS creates.

My first participation with TELUS was during WeDay in Montreal a few years back. After that moment, seeing TELUS’ sponsorship reaching a whole different level than what I was used to in brand sponsorships, I was hooked. Between the staff, the social media connections, and the charitable act of the event, I was blown away. I wanted to know more.

Every time TELUS has reached out to me for something they are working on, I can’t wait for the world to know. And now, as a #TeamTELUS Advocate, I’ll be getting the inside scoop on events before they happen. I know a lot of you don’t know half of what TELUS does for the community, and to be frank, I don’t know it all either. So, during this year of discovery, I will be sharing with you all that I learn through this advocacy program.

Whether it is their charitable acts, their social events and sponsorships or their amazing phone plans and cool technology, I will do my best to let you know all about it. And as you may have read in the TELUS blog, this advocacy program brings awesomeness to my readers not only in the form of knowledge, but also in the form of giveaways! And if you have entered my other TELUS giveaways, you know just how amazing they will be!

My first order of business was to update myself, technologically speaking 😉

The folks over at TELUS sent me the Samsung Galaxy S6, along with some other really cool gadgets (and chocolate, hello?!) When my personalized box came to the door, I was so touched:

I’m still learning the ins and outs of the Galaxy S6 but one thing for sure, the advances in technology from my older S3 to the S6 are incredible. I was really on the fence if I even needed to switch phones, but clearly (pun intended) the S6 is light-years beyond other smart phones for the camera alone. I’ve been testing it out on our family vacation and sharing on Instagram and Twitter. Check it out and you will see the difference right away from my old smart phone to this new one.

Another amazing feature in the Samsung smart phones is the ease with which you can transfer over to new tech. Because let’s be honest, I wasn’t keen on changing my phone mainly because it meant I would have to take major time to download, reload, erase, switch, clear, and most likely lose data (don’t you just love my tech terms?!)

Well, my friends, this was beyond cool. I opened my new S6 and right away was offered the possibility to “Tap&Go” with my old phone. What does this mean? Every single app I had on my old phone was copied straight over to my new phone just by tapping the two phone together, back to back. I KNOW!! In order to do this with your Samsung phone, you have to be sure that your NFC is on in your Settings. NFC (or Near Field Communication) has been around for a long time, and has been used mostly for photo and date sharing between phones, but it was new to me, so I thought I would share.

Another amazing app I discovered for switching to my new phone was Smart Switch. Because the Tap&Go feature was strictly to copy apps, I needed something to copy photos, contacts and other data. After installing the app to both my old and new phone, I was easily able transfer all my contacts, even my old text conversations, through WiFi. It was a breeze!

By far, it was the easiest transfer to a new cell phone I have ever had. I knew I was going to stay with an Android phone, and I loved the Samsung S3, but now I know I’m a full-fledged Samsung fan.

I still have a few things to open and check out from my amazing package from TELUS. Expect to see my attempts at taking selfies with a selfie stick (I’m sure it will make you laugh!!) Until the next #TeamTELUS post, be sure to check out the other amazing bloggers in the team by visiting the TELUS blog. We’ll be chatting together online through Twitter and Instagram.

And dare I write it? Yes, I will. The future is SO friendly. 😉
