Easy Peasy Patches: No-Sew Solutions for Kids’ Clothes

I had just bought some nice light summer pants and shorts for the boys toward the end of the school year. The start of hot weather reminded me they had changed two sizes again and needed a few things to hold them over until summer break.

You know those nylon pants that are a cross between exercise pants and pajamas? Those are my boys’ favourites. They are light, airy and perfect for school. However! They are also made of a nylon that can easily snag or rip, when it comes to playing in the schoolyard.

And that is exactly what happened.

The second day my son wore them.

He had fallen while playing around and a hole was created right at the knee of his pants. It was too big of a hole to sew up without my son every wearing it again because “that feeling” of anything sewn (badly, let’s face it) bothers him. And rather than pleading with him to just wear it anyway, I had the solution; Easy Peasy Patches.

I have been a fan of Easy Peasy Patches even before they re-branded a while back.

They have anything from the funniest to the plainest (if you need to cover up a uniform color clothing) patches that are simple because they are stickers! No need to sew anything together and I love that. Easy Peasy Patches have gotten me out of sewing many a ripped pant with my boys.

If you are wondering if they last washes in the machine, I can tell you they do, over and over again.  I have used their patches on snow pants, sweatpants, backpacks, and most recently these nylon pants, and they all last wash after wash.

The pants held up so many washes, we were able to pass on the pants to my nephew when they outgrew them!

The boys like that they can add style to their otherwise ruined clothes. We’ve used fun patches to brighten up plain pants, and they love adding patches to their backpacks too, giving their items their own personality. My oldest has a Canadian flag patch on his backpack and it has last years, while other sew-on patches that I’ve tried to add with fabric glue have come off. The patches come in all sizes and now there are patches specifically for snow pants, as well as various allergy patches and safety reflective patches. If you have a team or club that needs patches, they make custom patches too.

This patch save me from having to buy new snow pants mid-winter.

Other suggestions of items you can style up are laptops, cell phone cases, jeans, shoes, baseball caps…the ideas can be endless! It’s a walk down memory lane when felt patches were a trend for my backpack, but man, they were hard to sew on. This is so much easier. The prices for the patches range from $2.00 to $5.50, and you can purchase packs as well.

Tell me, what is something you would Easy Peasy patch right away?
