It might be a little hard to imagine right now, but before you know it, school will be out. If your kids are anything like mine, they mentally have one foot out the school door, ready to start summer vacation. These last weeks can be tough to keep them focused and help them get through the last stretch of homework and projects. And boy, are there lots of end-of-year projects!! (to read more about how I feel about that, please click on this link).
One thing we have done to celebrate our end of school year has been to have a picnic at our favourite secret spot. At the time of year that we go, it’s always peaceful and quiet. We take in the scenery and bring lots of food and cake! After all, it’s a celebration, right?! We lay on our picnic blankets and talk about the year. I make sure to write a card to my boys for them to read out loud. It gives my husband and I a chance to express our pride, and it gives the boys a chance to read it out independently and understand it. Having them read the card gives them even more pride in their accomplishments.
If you are looking to celebrate with your children with a family picnic this summer, I wrote a piece on what to bring for an eco-friendly picnic over on Omaiki.com. You can read the full piece by clicking here.
Here is to more celebrating and capturing your moments with great memories!
If you didn’t read about my overwhelming pride with reaching out to GoGoSqueeZ on Instagram, I want to tell you here as well. This spring, surrounding areas of Montreal were hit with the natural disaster of major flooding. Many families are still dealing with the effects of the flooding and our communities were looking to us to donate food to families in need.
After grocery shopping for my family and for those in need, I reached out to GoGoSqueez, who I was already collaborating with, with #SFTH2017 to tell them what was going on. The very same day, they informed me that they were shipping 70 cases of fruit packs to their headquarters near Montreal to help.
Thank you, GoGoSqueeZ, for helping without question! I’m so happy to be working with you!
